History of Aji-ichi

Today I had a chance to talk to one of our regular. He usually comes with his wife but today he was by himself 'cause his wife was off-island.

He told me that the first time he came to Guam, the first place he went right after he checked in was our old Aji-Ichi right across the Reef Hotel.

He also told me ever since, Aji-Ichi is his standard of his Japanese food. What an honor!! We need to work hard not to disappoint him.

今日、ある常連さんとお話をする機会に恵まれました。いつもは奥さまといらして頂いているのですが、今日は奥様がグアムを離れているということで一人でご来店されカウンターに座ったのです。

1995年にグアムに始めて来たという彼が話し始めました。
「ちょっとしたトリビアを教えてあげようか？」
俺が95年にグアムに来て最初にしたこと、空港について一時間後にしたことっていうのが味一でメシを食ったってことなんだよね。まだ小さくて今みたいに綺麗な店じゃなかったんだけどさ、ピンと来てね
「以来俺の中で『日本食』って言ったら味一なんだよね」

と仰ってくれた。光栄です。本当に。
そう言ってくださる方に恥ないようにがんばらないようになぁ。
